Most people are wasting money on too much amplifier power for smaller speakers. Here's why I think that's a mistake.

That’s a different world entirely (custom amps, six-figure price tags). But for 80% of the jobs we do—corporate events, small concerts, installs—the K8.2 or K12.2 with a properly matched CX-Q or CXD amplifier is the sweet spot.
Even the KEF LS50 Meta—a popular high-end bookshelf speaker—recommends 50–200W of amplifier power. Recommending a 500W amp for those is overkill. I’ve seen it happen. It doesn’t sound better. It just costs more (and often leads to the owner complaining about 'too much bass'—surprise, surprise).
But What About Future-Proofing?
This is the objection I hear most: 'If I buy a bigger amp now, I can reuse it with larger speakers later.' Fair point. But ask yourself: How often do you actually do that?
